Christmas Dance Fun

Breakfast with Santa 2018
Mrs. Boban once again sponsored the annual Breakfast with Santa event. There were lots of fun activities and Mr. & Mrs. Clause made an appearance. Pictured below is some fun activities enjoyed by all that attended.
Veteran's Day Essay Contest Winners
Congratulations to the three students from Mr. Martin's Language Arts class who won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in The American Legion's essay contest. Each winner was presented a certificate and check.
Teachers and staff voted to award a very deserving Mr. Wiedl our first ever "Kindness" award.
An amazing job by Mrs. Mokay and her decorating team to bring such a wonderful message of kindness to our students and staff!
Gifted Academic World Quest Competition
Our Gifted team finished 2nd out of 12 teams in the Academic World Quest Competition.
Sydney finished 5th and Liam finished 3rd out of 65 competing students.
Global Read Aloud
Mrs. Henry's class participated in a "Global Read Aloud". She was able to connect our students with a classroom in Canada to discuss the novel Refugee.
Celebrating Our Veteran's!
Gettysburg is always a wonderful learning experience for our students!

Our YIMS Gifted Team finished 10th place out of 485 drops! Our student were only a few whose pumpkin survived.
The students have box requirements, drop it from an 11 story building and must come closest to the target.
This was the 31st year for the event that is sponsored by the University's College of Mechanical and Aerospace Departments.

Red Ribbon Week
It is Red Ribbon Week! A big congratulations to Mrs. Mokay and Mr. Lario for all their hard work! The bracelets look great! The banner amazing and we are gettin a new sign tying Red Ribbon Week to our Kindness initiative to the marquee!

In the Classroom
Our students are always working hard in the classroom.

Our amazing students have been very supportive of Michael and his family during Michael's fight with cancer. They have held several fundraising events including a Hat Day, t-shirt sales, and an Ugly Sweater Contest just to name a few.

The YIMS Road Runners
Every Friday morning students arrive at YIMS to participate in "The Road Runners". Student run outside on our track behind the building if weather permits or they will run in the hallways if the weather is bad. The first meeting of "The Road Runners" on October 19th attracted 104 participants.

Students from Mrs. Berarducci's Life Skills class with help from Mrs. Bolby are selling various Yough Spirit items every Friday during 1st period.

Junior Honor Society
Under the direction of Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Mance, YIMS Junior Honor Society students taught lesson one of a program called "Beyond Differences: Knowing Your Classmates" to our 5th grade students. Our Honor Society students taught a thirty-minute lesson, provided student scenarios and led student discussions on how students can better get along and share the idea of "Kind". The lessons will continue at various points through-out the school year!

Cougars for a Cure
