The Yough School District was well represented by our 7th, 8th, and 9th grade band members from YHS and YIMS at WCMEA Jr. High County Band hosted at Wendover Middle School on February 21. Students from YHS include Rose Kochman, Tyler Fabean, and Madison Szypulski. Students from YIMS include Hayden Cooper, Mikayla Hasbrouck, Madeline Kolenc, Jordan McDonough and Wyatt Schomer.

On December 7th, YIMS Cheerleaders sponsored a Saturday morning of holiday crafts, games, breakfast and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. A big THANK YOU! to Mrs. Boban for all the hard work you put in making this event a huge success!
The Life Skills students will be working on the December kindness theme: Care for One Another, by collecting donations to take to "The Animal Friends of Westmoreland" on December 20th. See attached flyer for items being collected.

YIMS hosted the Academic World Quest Gifted Competition on November 21st. Yough took third place in the team competition. Sydney took 3rd place in the individual competition and congratulations to Blake on his 1st place finish.
On November 15, 2019, the 6th grade students at Yough Intermediate Middle School participated in SciTech at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This hands-on event allowed our students to attend one of six workshops and explore interactive exhibits based on careers in robotics, biology, astronomy and other STEM related fields. Students were also given the opportunity to visit Highmark SportsWorks, which fueled their curiosity in the areas of physics and astronomy.
